The WTA Finals may be over, but the action on the tour still continues, with the WTA Elite Zhuhai set to commence from November 1. The tournament will be featuring some of the most prominent names on the tour, and let us take a look at some of them.
World no. 10 Johanna Konta will be leading the draw, being the highest ranked played in the event. She has had a great run in Asia, having been the quarter-finalist in Wuhan and runner-up in China Open. Czech star Petra Kvitova is the next name to lead the draw, who will be keen on making amends for her defeat in the final of Luxembourg Open to Monica Niculescu. Having won the Wuhan Open, she is certainly familiar with the region. 22 year old Ukrainian Elina Svitolina too will be keen continuing her great run here, as she most recently was the semifinalist in WTA Moscow and China Open. In fact, she defeated Angelique Kerber in Beijing, which makes her a definite threat to the other players.
However, there are certain names too that haven't been in that great of a form off lately. Carla Suarez Navarro and Timea Bacsinszky have lost their flair in the recent weeks, and will be keen on getting that back here in Zhuhai.

Played indoors on a hard court, the WTA Elite Trophy will be an annual tennis tournament held in Zhuahai, China, replacing the WTA Tournament of Champions which was played between 2009 and 2014.
Just like that tournament, the WTA Elite Trophy is a competition that offers the opportunity for players outside of the top 10 to play in a group format for significant prizes. The WTA Finals that were held last week, hosted the top 8 players from the world, but aside from the replacement players, no players outside of the top 12 had the chance to compete. The WTA Elite Trophy will offer that opportunity and the organizers did a marvelous job of bringing in some top-tier talent for the first edition of the tournament. The field will comprise of the top 11 players who did not qualify for the WTA Finals, essentially ensuring that the crowd can root for the best players available.
The eleven qualified players sorted by their ranking are: Venus Williams, Carla Suarez Navarro, Karolina Pliskova, Roberta Vinci, Caroline Wozniacki, Sara Errani, Madison Keys, Elina Svitolina, Jelena Jankovic, Andrea Petkovic, Svetlana Kuznetsova and Zheng Saisai.
