The Rogers Cup is an annual outdoor tennis tournament held in Toronto or Montreal. This year s WTA Premier 5 tourney will be held in Toronto, with Serena Williams coming back as the reigning champion.
The prize money for the 2015, 114th edition of the WTA tournament will be over $2.500.000. When we take a look at the past winners, we can instantly see a clear American dominance. For starters, Monica Seles and Chris Evert are both four-time winners here which represents the record at the tournament. In addition to this, Serena Williams and Martina Navratilova have won the tourney three times. Outside of these two (or more like four with Evert and Navratilova) distinguished champions, we have a couple of non-American multiple-time winners as well.
Those all-time greats include but not limited to: two-time winners Martina Hingis from Switzerland, Justine Henin from Belgian, Amelie Mauresmo from France or Arantxa Sanchez Vicario from Spain. When it comes the potential outcome this year, first and foremost we have to mention Serena Williams’ name. The American dominates her opponents these days, winning basically every important tournament this season including the three Grand Slams so far.
Williams is known for tanking smaller tournaments, but she hasn’t played in a while which means she will probably try her best here. If that happens, it should be enough for her to end up with the trophy.

The ladies of the WTA will be playing in the Rogers Cup this week, a tournament with a big history that is being played in Toronto, Canada on hard courts for a total of two million dollars. The singles draw is 56, and the doubles is 28, which makes it one of the larger draws on the WTA Calender. The tournament switches between Toronto and Montreal and this year it falls on Toronto, August 15th through the 23rd, 2009. You won't want to miss a single second of all the Rogers Cup action, because it's not only the ladies that participate in this event. The men will also be coming to Toronto to play in their own Rogers Cup.
The tournament is also known as the Canada Masters, but is known as the Rogers Cup, as the tournament sponsor is Rogers Communications, who is the largest communication company in Canada, and was an innovator in the field of wireless communications and cable television. The men's Rogers Cup is a Masters 1000 event, and it's a Premier Tournament for the women. These two events are held in separate weeks around July or August this year, with the men's tournament being held in Montreal on odd numbered years, and the women's held in Toronto on those years. The defending champions for both the men's and the women's are Rafael Nadal and Dinara Safina.
Last year the final was between Dinara Safina and Dominika Cibulkova in Montreal. It was Safina's fifth final in the past six events that she had competed in, and when it was all over it was a third Sony Ericsson WTA Tour Title for 2008 when Dinara Safina beat Cibulkova in two sets, 6-2, 6-1. She got to the final by beating Anastasia Rodion ova and Patty Schnyder, and started the tournament as just the number seven seed. This will be an exciting Rogers Cup and you can watch live from Toronto as the ladies play by getting your membership right now.
