This tournament will run from May 15th to the 22nd and Sorana Cirstea is the number one seed in this event, going up against no one in the first round, receiving a bye. Second seed is Mariana Duque Marino, also receiving a bye in round one and hailing from Columbia. Maria Elena Camerin is the third seed and the Italian will be facing off against Sarah Gronert from Germany in the first round. The Internationalalaux de Strasbourg, or The Strasbourg International, is a WTA Tournament that is held on outdoor clay courts in Strasbourg, France. It has been held since 1987 and is an International-Level Tournament. Many of the greatest players in WTA history have won and played on this tournament, and the tradition continues on May 18th through the 23rd.

 Previous winners have included Steffi Graf, who won in 1997, Lindsay Davenport who defeated Kimiko Date in 1995, and went on to champion the 1996 season tournament as well, and Silvia Farina Elia, and Anabel Medina Garrigues who both won the tournament three separate times thus far, Elia in 2001, 2002 and 2003 and Garrigues who won more recently in 2005, 2007 and was the champion of last year's tourney as well beating Katarina Srebotnik 4-6,7-6 and 6-0.
