The quaint town of Nanchang, China will be hosting the Jiangxi Open this week on the women's tour. With young and emerging stars playing in the event, this is certainly going to be an exciting one to watch.
Kurumi Nara of Japan is the top seed in the tournament, although given her recent form; it may be quite hard for her to reach the latter rounds. With a record of 18-16 and zero titles, she is bound to be challenged by the other players. The 20 year old Croatian Donna Vekic is next in the seeded players list. Her spell so far hasn't been that impressive either, but she has displayed her potential in the last season. However, with her ranking taking a massive drop, she is definitely looking for a strong revival. Apart from the local youngsters who are in, there are also a couple of experienced names playing. Francesca Schiavone and Daniela Hantuchova are definitely years ahead in terms of experience from the rest, but their losses in momentum may spell trouble for them here. Both of them have failed to move past the third round in any of the tournaments they played in.
This is a good platform for the players to practice right before the Olympics, and the result here can certainly impact their performance in the competition.
