Fez, Morocco is the site of the next Women's Tennis Association event, the Grand Prix de SAR La Princesse Lalla Meryem. This event will feature a prize purse of $220,000 for the ladies and a singles draw of 32 and a doubles draw of 16. The tournament is played outdoors on Red Clay, and is an International Level tournament, that starts on April 26^th. Last year it was Anabel Medina Garrigues who was on top for this tournament, coming out with the trophy. Also last year was the debut of the Commonwealth Bank Tournament of Champions, which is composed of 32 international tournaments and this is one of those. Just because a tournament has a long name doesn't mean it has to be boring, and the Grand Prix de SAR La Princesse Lalla Meryem is a perfect example. This stop in the Sony Ericsson WTA Tour boasts $220,000 in prize money This tournament is played outdoors on a clay track, and has both finals in the singles and doubles category.

 

 

Played in Fes, Morocco the 2008 tournament saw Gisela Dulko from Argentina and Anabel Medina Garrigues pitted against each other in the singles final. The doubles tournament was between Russian Team Kelybanova and Makarova against Cirstea and Pavlyuchenkova.

 

Some of the top women's tennis players in the world will be competing in Morocco this year, and fans are expecting the same type of thrills as in previous years. Last year, the 2009 tour awarded more than $86,000,000 to winners in 31 countries.

 

The tournament goes from Monday, April 27^th to Saturday, May 2^nd starting at 10:00 and all week long the women of professional tennis will be swinging with their best and grand slamming their way into victory.
