The 2015 BNP Paribas Open will be the 40th edition of the prestigious hard court tournament played in Indian Wells, California. On the men’s side, the tourney is the very first of the nine ATP World Tour Masters 1000 events that are played between March and November.
On the ladies’ side, it is the first of the four Premier Mandatory events. The combined prize money for the 2015 Indian Wells Masters will be more than $12 million, which includes a $6,267,755 overall sum for the ATP event and $6.157,160 for the WTA tournament.
The reigning champions of the BNP Paribas Open are Novak Djokovic and Flavia Pennetta. When it comes to the record holders, Roger Federer leads the men with four titles (including three consecutive between 2004 and 2006), while on the ladies’ side, there are as many as eight different players with two titles to their names.
The list includes Martina Navratilova, Mary Joe Fernandez, Steffi Graf, Lindsay Davenport, Serena Williams, Kim Clijsters, Daniela Hantuchova and Maria Sharapova. Out of those eight players, only Fernandez and Daniela Hantuchova are without Grand Slam victories. The two main favorites for the 2015 titles will be Novak Djokovic from Serbia and Serena Williams from the United States of America.

The BNP Paribas Open is the professional tennis tournament played under the banner of Women Tennis Association exclusively for women tennis players. The tournament is scheduled to be played between 5th March and 16th March, 2014 at the hard courts of Indian Wells Tennis Garden in Indian Wells, United States.
It is the 26th edition of the tournament which has become the part of the WTA. In the WTA Tour this week, the WTA Indian Wells will be held, officially known as the BNP Paribas Open. It happens from March 6th to the 17th in Indian Wells in the United States. The next event coming up after that will be the Sony Open Tennis, which is from March 19th through the 31st, in Miami, Florida in the United States. The Monterrey Open is from April 1st to the 7th after that in Monterrey, Mexico and then the Family Circle Cup will be after that, held from April 1st through the 7th in Charleston, United States.
The most recently played WTA Tour tournament was the BMW Malaysian Open, and it was played from February 25th to the 3rd of March in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Karolina Pliskova beat Bathanie Mattek-Sands in the singles for the title and in the doubles it was the team of Kai-Chen Chang and Shuko Aoyama. Last year's winner at Indian Wells was Victoria Azarenka in the singles and Liezel Huber and Lisa Raymond in the doubles. In 2011, it was Caroline Wozniacki who took home the singles title.

Also coming up this month is the Sony Ericsson Open, a Premier level tournament that starts on March 22nd in Miami, Florida. The Women's Tennis Association will join the men of the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) out in the Indian Wells Tournament which will take place starting on March 10th, officially known as the BNP Paribas Open preceded for the women by the Malaysia Open in Kuala Lampur, Malaysia on February 22nd and followed later this month with a tournament in Miami, Florida called the Sony Ericsson Open. The Sony Ericsson Open is a Premier Level tournament as is the BNP Paribas Open, and it will be worth a whopping four and a half million dollars to these ladies. The tournament will be played on hard courts outdoors with a singles draw of ninety six and doubles draw of thirty two which makes it one of the largest tournament held throughout the year.
