The WTA Tour will hold the Moorilla Hobart International this week, one tournament before the first Grand Slam of the year. The tournament happens in Hobart, Australia, outdoors on hard courts and runs from the 8th of January to the 14th. It will have $220,000 in prize money with a singles draw of 32 and a doubles draw of 16. Jarmila Groth was the singles champ last year and Roberta Vinci and Sara Errani took the doubles competition. The WTA Tour heads to Hobart, Australia for the next tournament on the 2011 calendar, as we being the 2011 season of WTA Tennis, called the Moorilla Hobart International live, followed directly by our very first Grand Slam event of the year, the Australian Open, which happens in Melbourne, Australia, January 17th through the 29th. The Moorilla Hobart International starts on January 9th and goes until the 15th and is an International Level tournament taking place in Hobart, Australia played outdoors on hard courts for $220,000 with a singles draw of 32 and a doubles draw of 16. Alona Bondarenko from the Ukraine beat Shahar Peer last year for the 2010 title with a score of 6-2, 6-4 on January 15th, 2010. The women of the WTA will be heading to Hobart, Australia for the Moorilla Hobart International tennis tournament this Sunday, the tenth of January 2010 and as the new season of women's professional tennis kicks off we have a $220,000 prize purse for these ladies and a singles draw of thirty with a doubles draw of sixteen. The tournament is from January 10th through the 18th and Anabel Medina Garrigues is the top seed and right now number one in the world. Last year it was Petra Kvitova from the Czech Republic who took home the title, which was her very first Sony Ericsson WTA Tour title. She beat Iveta Benesova, who has been in the finals twice now, for the win last year and this year she may be ready to defend her title. The number three seed is Kateryna Bondarenko who is here with her older sister Alona Bondarenko, who is the number four seed for this event.
The second seed is Shahar Peer from Israel and the fifth is Carla Suarez Navarro, a Spanish player that is still attempting to get her first title. Canadian Aleksandra Wozniak is the number six seed while Zheng Jie, who was the 2005 winner is the seventh and the eighth is Gisela Dulko, who was the runner up for the 2005 final.
