One of the tournaments on the WTA Tour this week is called the Texas Tennis Open, and it happens in Dallas, Texas. It is called the Texas Tennis Open, and it is played outdoors on hard court surfaces for $220,000, with a singles draw of 32 and a doubles draw of 16. This event starts on the 19^th of August, and is an international level event. The very next tournament on the calendar is the US Open, which is the fourth Grand Slam Tennis event of the year, happening in Flushing Meadows, New York, starting the 27^th of August.

 

 

Most recently, the WTA Tour was in Cincinnati, Ohio for the Western & Southern Open, a premier level tournament that started on August 13^th. It was played outdoors on hard courts, with a singles draw of 54 and a purse over two million dollars. Na Li won the singles title in this tournament, and Andrea Hlavackova and Lucie Hradecka came in for the doubles competition. This event is played at the Hilton DFL Lakes Hotel, which is located around the Dallas-Fort Worth area of Texas, and was played for the first time last year.

The Dallas Tournament is called the Texas Tennis Open, and happens just outside of Dallas in Grapevine, Texas. The Texas Tennis Open will happen from August 22^nd to the 27^th and it will take place on hard courts outdoors. The prize purse is $220,000 and the singles draw is 32 while the doubles draw is 16. This inaugural tournament happens in one of the largest cities to host a WTA Tour event and this international level tournament, held at the Hilton Lakes Tennis and Sport Club should be an exciting one. Previously on the WTA Tour, Serena Williams won the singles title at the Rogers Cup in Toronto, while Liezel Huber and Lisa Raymond took home the doubles trophy.

 

 

The ladies that will be attending this year's Texas Tennis Open include Yanina Wickmayer and Kimiko Date-Krumm as well as Bethanie Mattek Sands and Dominika Cibulkova. Also, Sorana Cirstea will be playing and Alize Cornet. Lauren Davis from the United States will be playing as well, along with Jelena Dokic, Simona Halep, Melanie Oudin and Sabine Lisicki.
