Sam Groth v Roger Federer Live
Second seeded Swiss Roger Federer will take on the Australian Sam Groth, in the third round of the 2015 Wimbledon Championships on Saturday afternoon.
Federer continued his excellent run on grass by defeating the American Sam Querrey in the second round in straight sets with 6-4, 6-2, 6-2, in an hour and a half. Groth too had an easy match as he went up against his compatriot James Duckworth, whom he defeated with 7-5, 6-4, 7-6(8).
The Australian has had an average season so far. He has a track record of 9-14, and hasn’t made a substantial impact on the tour. He has alternated between the Challenger events and the ATP ones, but hasn’t had much success in either. In the first case, he won a title recently in Manchester, which he followed with a run till the quarterfinal in the Mercedes Cup.
Federer on the other hand won the Gerry Weber Open for the record eighth time, where he routed Andreas Seppi in the final. In addition to this, he was also the runner-up in the Italian Open, and the quarterfinalist in the Roland Garros.
For this match, the world no. 2 is certainly the favorite one. He has the experience and the momentum, to reach the next round comfortably.
