Stan Wawrinka v Kei Nishikori Live
Stanislas Wawrinka of Switzerland, who happens to be the third seed at the US Open will play world number 11 Kei Nishikori of Japan in the quarter finals of the ongoing US Open tournament. The match will be played at the Flushing Meadows in New York on Wednesday, September 3.
Stan Wawrinka beat 16th seeded Spaniard Tommy Robredo in a thrilling five setter in order to make it into the quarters while Kei Nishikori overcame Canadian Milos Raonic over five sets to qualify for round 5 of the grand slam event.
Kei Nishikori also beat American wild card entrant Wayne Odesnik, Spaniard Pablo Andujar (ret), and 23rd seeded Argentine Leonardo Mayor in his road to the round of 16 where he tamed Raonic. The Swiss Stan Wawrinka beat Jeremy Vesely of the Czech Republic and Brazilian Thomaz Bellucci in the first couple of rounds. Stan Wawrinka received a walk over in the third round from Blaz Kavcic as he made his way into the fourth round.
The duo have faced each other twice on court with Stan Wawrinka winning on both occasions. Both matches were played in 2012 and include a match on the hard court at the Cincinnati Masters in 2012, a game which was won 6-3, 6-3 by the Swiss.
Although the US Open has been coming up with some rather surprising results, one expects that Stan Wawrinka has enough in the locker not to be upstaged by the high flying Japanese pro.
