Rafael Nadal Set to Return to the ATP Tour
With all the recent excitement over Roger Federers remarkable victory over Andy Roddick at Wimbledon it seems that Rafael Nadal has been left out of the spotlight. Nadal has not played since a loss in the fourth round of the French Open in May. However tennis fans should not forget just how exciting of a player he is and how much of a challenge he represents for all the top stars of the ATP Tour. While it has been hard to miss Nadal thanks to all the excitement of Wimbledon, he will be returning to the ATP Tour next month to show us all what we have been missing.
Nadal has plans to take part in the Rogers Cup which will take place in Montreal. He wants to defend his title last year and is more than disappointed with not being able to defend his Wimbledon title. Even though he has missed two months of action the star from Spain is still ranked as the No.2 player in the world. That is not good enough in Nadal’s mind and he will be focused on once again overtaking his rival Roger Federer in the player rankings.
The publicist for Nadal, Benito Perez-Barbadilo was quoted as saying Nadal is currently at home in Barcelona having final tests and rehab done on his wonky right knee. He is slowing recovering from the injury and no one wants to see him return too early and have to deal with another injury. The plan is for Nadal to start practicing early next week and if all goes well he will make his return on August 10th in Montreal.
It is a safe bet that Nadal will bring a lot of excitement back to the court as the 6-time grand slam winner is often the only player on tour who can match up with Roger Federer, even though Andy Roddick gave it his all at Wimbledon. Stay tuned and see if Nadal can make a successful comeback and reclaim his spot as the best player on the ATP Tour.
