Maria Sharapova Fully Recovered
The blond haired beauty named Maria Sharapova recently informed fans that she was 100 percent, and that her right shoulder had been fully healed and she was ready to return to the court. After a poor performance at Wimbledon, fans have been looking forward to seeing the old Sharapova back on the nets, and according to the 22 year old she wouldn't be playing if she wasn't fully recovered.
Sharapovaplayed for the Newport Beach Breakers against Kansas City in the World Team Tennis Match on Wednesday. In the doubles, she did well, teaming up with Julie Ditty to win 5-2, was paired up with Kaes Van't Hof and took mixed doubles 5-2 and then went on to beat Meghann Shaughnessy 5-4 in the women's singles tournament. Since her surgery, Sharapova has competed in four events and was eliminated in each by an opponent who wasn't in the top ten.
The Russian player was unable to defend her points standings since her injury, and the former world number one went all the way down to being ranked number 102 in May. However, she was able to climb back up and is currently ranked number 61. She says that keeping her shoulder ready to play will now be a part of her everyday life, and that she'll likely be doing shoulder exercises for the rest of her life. However, that's the way it is for a professional athlete, dealing with injuries regularly.
Not only has Sharapova been on top in the world of professional tennis, but has also modeled regularly, even being featured in Sport's Illustrated. With the modeling and tennis career combined, Sharapova was the world's highest paid female professional athlete earning around twenty six million in 2008. She earned a total of $22 million the last six months of 2008 combined with the first six of 2009.
