Bellucci and Beck looking for Titles
Thomaz Bellucci and Andreas Beck are in the final of the Swiss Open, and both of them will be looking for their very first career ATP Tour title. Bellucci beat Igor Andreev in the semis, and earlier defeated top seed Stanislas Wawrinka as well as Nicolas Kiefer.
The 21 year old Bellucci defeated Wawrinka, despite being ranked 118 places below him, and the same for Igor Andreev who was the number three seed in the tournament and was obviously in good form, having made it all the way to the semis. Andreev was also a finalist in last year's clay tournament in Gstaad. He also knocked out Kiefer, seeded number six, who left the game with an injury in the quarter final.
As for Andreas Beck, he beat Brazilian Marcos Daniel 7-6, 6-3, with only one break of serve the entire match. Daniel was seeded number 73, and he never allowed a break opportunity, taking only 12 points in 11 services.
Brazilian Thomaz Bellucci broke into the top 100 in early 2008 with a list of Challenger Tournament wins as a 20 year old player. His career high rank was number 63, which was listed on April 6th , 2009. Andreas Beck is from Germany and he was able to achieve a career high rank of 51 which was listed on July 6th, 2009.
This puts Bellucci and Beck in the final on Sunday, their first time meeting on the court for the ATP Tour. The winner of this final will follow a record set by four others on this tour, first time champions, which includes Guillermo Garcia-Lopez, Rajeev Ram, Benjamin Becker and Jeremy Chardy.
