Australian Open Day One Results
In Australian Open action Roger Federer started working towards his title for the second year in a row with a win over Lukas Lacko, with a final of 6-1, 6-1, 6-3. He is now waiting to face whoever wins out of the Gilles Simon and Yen-Hsun Lu match-up. American Sam Querrey was taken out of the Australian Open with a loss to Lukasz Kubot, the first of the seeded players to be out, and Nikolay Davydenko was the second, losing to Florian Meyer from Germany with a final of 3-6, 6-4, 8-6. Those two will now advance.
Also we had some exciting action between Gael Monfils who was number twelve and number sixteen Mardy Fish. Fish came back from being two sets down to win his match and Monfils did the same, and both will now advance. Monfils came back in his third set to defeat Thiemo de Bakkar and Fish was facing Victor Hanescu from Romania. Also Andy Roddick, seeded eighth, won the match with Jan Hajek 6-1, 6-2, 6-2.
