The most difficult of all the events making up the Grand Slams is the the Roland Garros, that happens between mid-May and June every year for a two week period of time ever since 1891 with 1897 having the first women's tournament. The tournament moved from grass to a a kind of crushed red brick in 1912 and was declared a Grand Slam tournament in 1945.
This is the French Open 2009. Roland Garros is another name for it. In 2007, a marked change took over the Roland-Garros tennis tournament, making men's and women's prizes equal for the first time in history.
The Roland Garros Live is held in the capital of France, at the magnificent Roland Garros Stadium, and the court of clay has held many tennis players in check – making the ball bounce greater and reducing the speed, making players who rely on great serves use other techniques to win. Many great tennis players have had trouble at Roland Garros, as this clay court is challenging, including Boris Becker, Pete Sampras and Roger Federer, none of the three having ever been able to grab a Roland Garros Prize. Some athletes however, are equipped to deal with the clay – and it seems – actually like it better. Players that have claimed titles on the clay are Women Tennis Roland Garros stars Justine Henin, as well as past tennis greats Chrissie Evert, Monica Seles, Steffi Graf, and Martina Mavratilova, Bjork Borg and Rafael Nadal excelled in the Men's Roland Garros, all famed in Roland Garros Video. These players are trying for a win at Roland Garros again this year.
Records have been set and shattered at the Roland Garros Paris, with Rafael Nadal most likely known as the most famous record taker, winning four titles in a row in tennis games Roland Garros, which put him with tennis greats Suzanne Lenglen and Bjorn Borg. Prior to 1968 Max Decugis took home 29 titles from the Roland Garros Paris, making Roland Garros Video history. At Roland Garros 1984, Ivan Lendl won after a very close 5 set match.
The Grand Slam even previous to this was the Australian Open, held on January 19th through February 1st in Melbourne, Australia. Rafael Nadal conquered Roger Federer in the men's singles match, and Dinara Safara was slaughtered by Serena Williams 0-6 3-6. Brothers Mike and Bob Bryan beat out Mahesh Bhupathi and Mark Knowles in the men's doubles, and another sibling team, Serena and Venus Williams took home the women's doubles trophy.
The 2008 Roland Garros took place from May 25th to June 8th and had a bunch of different events, some of them exciting to watch as records were broken. On May 14th, Justine Henin retired from Tennis, losing her chance to take four consecutive titles in the Women's Roland Garros Tour with tennis greats such as of Suzanne Lenglen and Bjorn Borg. Her opponant from the year before, Ana Ivanovic, instead. In the men's singles Rafael Nadal was able to make his own record, making that year his fourth in-a-row, taking the trophy for the men's singles.
