Rafael Nadal v Novak Djokovic Live
The final of the mens singles at the French Open is upon us and it will be defending champion Rafael Nadal who faces a red hot Novak Djokovic at the Roland Garros on Sunday, June 8.
Spaniard Rafael Nadal has been in great form at the tournament this year. Thus far, the powerful leftie who banks on spin off the surface has just dropped one set at this year’s grand slam event. It was in the quarter finals against David Ferrer that Nadal dropped a set before steamrolling Andy Murray in straight sets – 6-3, 6-2, 6-1 – in the semi-final.
Novak Djokovic on the other hand has not had it so easy in Paris. While he did record a straight set win over his opponents on four occasions here, the Serb lost a set each against Marin Cilic and Ernests Gulbis. It was Gulbis that he faced in the semis as he won 6-3, 6-3, 3-6, 6-3.
While Djokovic remains unbeaten on clay in the last ten matches that he has played on the surface, Nadal has tasted defeat once during the same period. Ironically, the defeat came against Djokovic at the final in Rome.
The duo have faced each other an unprecedented 41 times over the course of their professional tennis careers and know each other’s game well. Djokovic has won four out of the last five games in which the duo have featured, however, with the history that Nadal has at this tournament, only a man out of his mind would predict a winner. This should be a great match.
