Rafael Nadal v David Ferrer Live
Top seeded Rafael Nadal will take on third seeded David Ferrer in the final of the mens singles at the French Open 2013 on Sunday.
Both players love playing on clay and have an excellent record on it but it must be said that Nadal is an overwhelming favourite to win this one given how he has bettered his Spaniard compatriot time and again. Especially on clay.
Overall, Nadal holds a 20-5 record against Ferrer. 17 of those matches came on clay and in the last 16 matches, Nadal has walked away winner - such has been his dominance over Ferrer. What could be bit of a positive for Ferrer is that in the last two matches, he’s been able to stretch his opponent to three sets.
To add to a positive, Ferrer was an easy, straight-set winner over his opponent Jo-Wilfried Tsonga in the semi-final while Nadal was stretched to 9-7 in the final set by Novak Djokovic. This could have tired the player out and despite his supreme fitness levels, may have an effect on his play.
The big question is whether Ferrer is in the right frame of mind to challenge Nadal. Well, he should be, given this is his first ever Grand Slam final and he will be charged up for it.
