Milos Raonic v Novak Djokovic Live
World number 2 Novak Djokovic will be up against world number 9 Milos Raonic in the quarter finals of the French Open at the Roland Garros in Paris.
Novak Djokovic breezed into the quarter finals after subjecting Jo Wilfried Tsonga to defeat in straight sets in their fourth round clash. The Serbian came out very much on top in a 6-1, 6-4, 6-1 win over the local favourite who failed to repeat his performance in 2012 against Djokovic.
Djokovic is on a great run at the moment winning nine out of his last ten matches on clay. Incidentally the only loss he suffered in this run is against Roger Federer at Monte Carlo. In the build up to the quarters, the Serb had got the better of players like Marin Cilic and Jeremy Chardy which was good match practice for the tough fixtures that lie ahead.
Canadian Milos Raonic has also been playing extremely well in the build up to the grand slam. His great run in Rome was only stopped by Djokovic while he has scored three straight set wins in four matches in the build up to the quarters. Raonic had defeated Spaniard Marcel Granollers in the fourth round 6-3, 6-3, 6-3 to set up this fixture against Djokovic.
The duo have played each other a couple of times – both on clay – once in the Davis Cup and once at Rome earlier this year. Djokovic prevailed on both occasions although the match in Rome was a close thing as the Serb beat the Canadian 6-7(5), 7-6(4), 6-3. This should be a great match as both look to qualify for the semis and the glory that follows.
