Julien Benneteau v Roger Federer Live
Second seeded Roger Federer will be up against Frenchman Julien Benneteau in their third round match at the French Open 2013.
It looks to be a one-sided encounter with Federer having brushed aside both his opponents from the first couple of rounds while Benneteau having struggled to move past them. In his first round, Benneteau needed two tie-breakers and a four-setter to defeat Richard Berankis before being stretched to five sets by Tobias Kamke.
Federer dropped only seven games in his first round win and then was a 6-2, 6-1, 6-1 winner over Somdev Devvarman in the second round.
Federer has played Beneteau six times before this but it’s rather interesting to note that the Swiss world number two has lost in two of those matches. One of those defeats came as recently as this year at ATP Rotterdam and that’s definitely good sign for the Frenchman, who will be looking to use the confidence from that victory.
They have played only match on clay and that was way back in 2008 at the French Open and Federer had gone on to win the fourth round tie with much ease.
All said and done, Federer will still be the favourite to win this one and play Simon or Querrey in the fourth round.
