Gilles Simon v Roger Federer Live
Second seeded Swiss player Roger Federer will face his first acid test when he takes on Gilles Simon in a fourth round encounter at the French Open 2013.
It's been very easy sailing for Federer so far. He's yet to drop a set in the tournament, winning all his first three rounds in straight sets and quite easily at that.
After crushing P Carreno-Busta in the first round, his second round opponent India's Somdev Devvarman was no match for him as he went down winning only 4 games in the match. Federer was stretched that very slight bit in the third round by Julien Benneteau when he took the third set to five games all before he closed out the set and the match at 7-5 in that encounter.
Up against him is a man who has beaten him twice before - but way back in 2008. Both matches were on hard-court surfaces alright but the French man Simon will not have the crowd support going for him but also the fact that he's got something going for him against the Swiss maestro.
The last time the two had faced each other was earlier this year at the Rome Masters. It was a third round match on clay that Federer went on to win in straight sets, dropping only three games.
Earlier, Simon defeated USA's Sam Querrey to make it to the fourth round, winning in five tough sets. He had needed five sets in his first round match against Lleyton Hewitt too, and it will be interesting to see if he remains fit enough to play the Swiss world number 2.
