The United States had never lost to Italy before 2009, having taken a total of nine games against the Nation. But last year, Italy stepped it up in Reggio Calabria with a final score of 4-0. The United States has won the Fed Cup title a total of 17 times, more than any other nation but they haven't taken the title since 2000.
