There has only been once in history when China and Sweden met in Fed Cup action, and that was in 1989. That match went to Sweden with 2-1 final, the match decided by the doubles tournament. Sweden was on fire back in the 1970's and 1980's getting into the quarterfinals four different times. On the way here Sweden beat Denmark, Latvia, Hungary and Austria in the Europe/Africa Zone Group One. The Swedish team has Sofia Arvidsson, Johanna Larsson, Anna brazhnikova and Ellen Allgurin with team captain Maria Strandlund-Tomsvik.
As for the People's Republic of China they got to the semi finals just recently, back in 2008. However, that seemed to be all they had in them, as they haven't won a single tie ever since. Slovakia won over China with a score of 3-2. The China team is Peng Shuai, Zhang Shuai, Han Zinyum and Zhou Yi-Miao with Fu Zhong captaining.
