Slovenia and Japan have only met once before, back in 1999. Japan won back then, with a final of 2-1. Slovenia came from the bottom of the Fed Cup list to take on those in the Europe/Africa Zone I, getting themselves in the World Group Two playoffs. Along the way they beat Netherlands, Israel as well as Switzerland. The 2010 Fed Cup team of Slovenia is captained by Iztok Bozik and the team consists of Masa Zec Peskiric, Polona Hercog and Tadeja Majeric as well as Katarina Srebotnik and is a tough team this year.
As far as Japan, they have been as far as the Fed Cup semis, back in 1996, while Kimiko Date-Krumm was on the team. She is back in the action this year and hopes are high for the Japanese team. The 2010 team for Japan has Date-Krumm, Yurkika Sema, Ayumi Morita and Rika Gujiwara and the team captain is Takeshi Murakami.
