Slovenia and Germany will be playing in the World Group II round one event in the Fed Cup, the woman's team tennis event of 2011, with these nations competing to come out on top in the event and advancing to the next level. The World Group II first round will happen February 5^th through the 6^th, 2011 and will feature not only the match between Slovenia and Germany. Also happening in the World Group II Serbia takes on Canada and Estonia will play Spain. Also Sweden and the Ukraine will compete. This is the first time that the Slovenians and Germany has met in the Fed Cup so there are no records but Slovenia got here by being promoted from the Europe/Africa Zone Group One. Germany was champions in 1987 and 1992 but hasn't done well since.

Playing for the Slovenians is the 47^th ranked player in the world, Polona Hercog as well as Masa Zec-Peskiric. Katarina Srebotnik is also on the team as well as Tjasa Srimpf. Playing for Germany is 33^rd ranked player Andrea Petkovic, along with Tatjana Malek who is ranked 136^th, Ana Lena Groenefeld and Julia Georges.
