Serbia and India have never met before in a Davis Cup match. Serbia is called the defending champion after they beat France at Belgrade in the final with a score of 3-2. They were 2-1 initially, but with Novak Djokovic and Viktor Troicki they were unstoppable and turned the score around. As for India, they got their place in the last sixteen of the tournament by getting rid of Brazil with a score of 3-2 in a match at home. This was the World Group play-off match and they came back from being down 0-2 to take the tie. This was the second year in a row for India to get into the final sixteen.
