The tournament between Kazakhstan and Switzerland happens at the National Tennis Centre in Astana the 17^th of September to the 19^th. On the first and second days of the tournament the action starts at 14:00 and then on Day Three it will start at 12:00. This hard court indoor tournament is the first time that Kazakhstan and Switzerland have met in the Davis Cup as Kazakhstan has only been a Davis Cup competitor since 1995. Switzerland has championed four out of the last World Group playoffs that it has participated in.

The Kazakhstan players include Andrey Golubev and Evgeny Korolev. Also on the team are Mikhail Kukushkin and Yuriy Schukin with team captain Yegor Shaldunov. The Switzerland team is composed of Stanislas Wawrinka and Marco Chiundinelli as well as Michael Lammer and Yves Allegro with the team captain as Severin Luthi.
