In the Davis Cup World Group quarterfinals Germany takes on France July 8th through the 10th. Argentina and Kazakhstan also play in the World Group quarterfinal this week as well, along with Sweden and Serbia and the United States and Spain.

The weekend for Fed Cup is next weekend, with ten different match-ups going on, and starting us off on the premier event in team tennis for women. We have Poland and Spain as well as the USA versus Russia and Belgium and Estonia, as well as Serbia versus Slovakia. Let's take a look at the German team in a moment. First, these two nations have played each other five times thus far and its been fairy even with a record of 3-2 in favor of France. First time they played France won 2-1, which was just breaking in the Fed Cup back in 1963 its inaugural year. Now, Germany was Fed Cup champs in 1987 and more recently in 1992. Both times they had Steffi Graf on their team. The 2010 team consists of Sabine Lisicki, Andreas Petkovic, Julia Goerges, Tatjana Malek and Barbara Rittner as team captain.
France has two Fed Cup titles as well, both of them more recent than the newest German title. France won in 1997 and again in 2003. Amelie Mauresmo helped to win the 2003 title, retiring just last year. The French team this year has Julie Coin, Alize Cornet, Pauline Parmentier and Aravane Rezai. Nicolas Escude is the team captain for France.
