Spain travel to Czech Republic as the sides meet in the Fed Cup World Group First Round live on www.watchlivetennis.org starting at 12:00 GMT on Saturday 7th February through to the 8th February with tennis live. The tie will take place at the Brno Exhibition Centre in Czech Republic on Carpet.
The two nations have only met twice before in Fed Cup history with Spain winning on both occasions. Spain are among the favourites for the tournament after a successful Fed Cup last year where they reached the finals, losing out to a Russia. The Czech Republic meanwhile have faded out in recent years in the Fed Cup as the 5 time winners of the trophy return to the World Cup Group for the first time since 2004.
The Czech Republic will look field a strong line-up against Spain as Iveta Benesova, Petra Kvitova and Lucie Safavora all rank in the WTA singles top 51 at 35th, 42nd and 51st respectively. Kvitova is one to watch for the future after her massive victory over current world number 6 Venus Williams last year at the age of 17. Experienced doubles player Kveta Peschke remains in the squad as she sits 7th in the WTA doubles rankings having represented the Czech side since 1998 in the Fed Cup.
Spain surprisingly leave out Spanish number 1 Anabel Medina Garrigues after the Spaniard lead the side in the final last year. Carla Suarez Navarro is the sides only top 50 singles player sitting in 30th place. However, other nominations Nuria Llagostera Vives and Maria Jose Martinez Sanchez sit in 19th and 21st place in the WTA doubles rankings, whilst Lourdes Dominguez Lino is the surprise inclusion for the squad with many people only remembering Lino for testing positive for cocaine in 2002.
