Chile and Czech Republic only met once before back in 1967. That was in the Europe Zone quarterfinal which was held in Prague. The Chileans took that match 3-2. Chile got into this quarter by winning 4-1 against Israel in Coquimbo. This tie was delayed for a day due to an earth quake, but now leaves Chile looking for their first title. Czech Republic got hereby beating Belgium 4-1 in Bree, and were last year's runners up against Spain. They also won the title in 1980 with players Ivan Lendl and Tomas Smid.
The Chile team is headlined by Nicolas Massu but also includes some other great players. Jorge Aguilar is on the team as is Paul Capdeville and Cristobal Saavedra-Corvalen. The Chileans are captained by Hans Gildemeister. As for Czech Republic, they have Tomas Berdych as their star player along with Jan Hajek, Lukas Dloughy and Frantisek Cermak. The team captain is Jaroslaw Navratil.
