It's time for the Fed Cup and we have several first round matches going on in the World Group. The Fed Cup is the woman's tennis answer to the Davis Cup, a team sport that happens every year and is exciting to watch as players from nations around the world band together to take on other nations. First up is Australia and Italy, but there are also several other World Group matches this week. The World Group round one event will happen February 5^th through the 6^th, and there are three other teams taking the stage as well including Slovakia and Czech Republic, Russia and France and Belgium and the USA. Australia has played Italy before in the Fed Cup and has never even lost a rubber to them. The last time that they mat in the Fed Cup tie it was in the 1998 World Group second round and were able to come out on top for the fifth time. Eventually, Australia was out in the quarters thanks to Germany.

Playing for Australia in the Fed Cup is sixth ranked Samantha Stosur along with Jarmila Groth, who is ranked 34. Anastasia Rodionova will be playing as well, and Rennae Stubbs is the last member of the team. For Italy, Francesca Shiavone is the top player, ranked number 7. Flavia Pennetta is the next member of the Italian Team, and we also have Sara Errani and Roberta Vinci.
