Argentina and Romania will be just two of several nations going head to head in this week’s Davis Cup. It all happens March 4^th through the 6^th, the first round for the World Group, and this match will take place at Parque Roca in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Also competing this week are Croatia and Germany, Czech Republic and Kazakhstan and Belgium and Spain. Argentina is the winner of head to head competitions between themselves and Romania, but there have only been one of those. It was a victory at Romania that ended 3-2 and it was for the World Group quarterfinals. That was in 1981. Argentina was in a match last time in the World Group semifinals, but they lost to France in Lyon with a score of 5-0. David Nalbandian won the fifth rubber for two ties against Sweden and Russia. He couldn’t save his team with the same type of performance when they faced France however.

Romania ended their seven years in the World Group with recent relegation, but came back to the elite tier in 2010. They took a match against Ecuador at home 5-0. The team for Argentina includes David Nalbandian, Juan Monaco, Juan Ignacio Chela and Eduardo Schwank. Romania has Victor Hanescu, Victor Crivoi, Adrian Ungur and Horia Tecau.
