The Rod Laver Arena will be the host to the first round of the Women's Singles on Tuesday, January 17^th, a tournament that features Austria's Tamira Paszek and the number 12 seed in the Women's Singles, American tennis player Serena Williams. These two ladies will compete at 7:00PM in the Australian Open, our first Grand Slam event of the year. While they play, at Rod Laver, they will be joined by a first round match of the men's between German Cedrik-Marcel Stebe and Lleyton Hewitt from Australia.

Tamira Paszek is playing in the Singles and in the doubles with Jasmin Woehr. She has played in five different Australian Opens, but has never made it past the second round. Serena Williams on the other hand has made it quite a bit farther, playing in eleven Australian Opens and winning five times in 2003, 2005, 2007, 2009 and 2010.
