Kirsten Flipkens v Maria Sharapova Live
On the seventh day of the Australian Open, Sunday, January 20th, Kirsten Flipkens takes on the number two seeded player from Russia, Maria Sharapova, in the fourth round of the women's singles at the Rod Laver Arena at 11:00AM. This is our very first Tennis Grand Slam event of the year and it happens at Melbourne Park in Australia, son to be followed by Wimbledon, the US Open and Roland Garros. David Ferrer and Kei Nishikoria are also playing a men's singles fourth round match that day, at 11:00AM at the Rod Laver Arena.
Kirsten Flipkens has played in four Australian Open events in the past. She has played in the women's singles and doubles, but her best perfromance in the past was the second round in 2009, so making it to the fourth round this year is quite an accomplishment. She has 59 career matches won and is currently ranked 43rd. As for Maria Sharapova, she has played in nine Australian Open matches in the past, in the women's singles and doubles. She was the 2008 winner, but she has never been able to make it past the second round in doubles.
