The Rod Laver Arena will be host to a couple of evening matches in the first Grand Slam event of the year, at Melbourne Park in Melbourne Australia. It is the 2011 Australian Open and one of the main events is the showdown between American Andy Roddick and Stanislas Wawrinka. Roddick is seeded eighth and Wawrinka 19^th. This match will happen at 7:00PM and they will be joined by a female singles match between Andrea Petkovic from Germany and Maria Sharapova from Russia, who is seeded fourteenth. These will take place on Sunday, January 23^rd.

This match will see these players compete for a chance to move forward from the fourth round. Andy Roddick has comped in nine Australian Opens over the years and he has been a semifinalist in the singles competition four different times in 2003, 2005, 2007 and most recently in 2009. As for Stanislas Wawrinka who hails from Switzerland, he has made it to the third round of the singles in 2007, 2009 and 2010.
