The World Team Tennis event is a unique team tennis competition that is played in the United States of America. There are five sets in each match, with each set having a different format. There are men's singles, men's doubles, women's singles, women's doubles and mixed doubles all rolled into one set. The event began in 1973 and it features nine teams that play in the tournament. The event is a combined ATP World Tour and WTA Tour event and last year it was the Washington Kastles who took the title.

The award of most titles is held by the Sacramento Capitals and some of the players that will be participating in this year's World Team Tennis Championships include Andre Agassi, as well as Nick Monroe and doubles powerhouse Mike and Bob Bryan. Alsoi playing in this tournament will be John McEnroe and Timea Babos as well as Maria Sanchez and Mardy Fish along with Sam Querrey. The teams include the Orange County Breakers, NY Sportimes, Boston Lobsters, Springfield Lasers, Kansas City Explorers and Philadelphia Freedoms, plus the two previously mentioned.
