The Monte Carlo Rolex Masters is an annual Masters 1000 Tournament held in Monte Carlo, Monaco. Outside of the Grand Slam tournaments, the Masters Series events are the most prestigious tourneys men’s tennis where the players compete for great prizes. The 2015 tournament – which will be the 109th edition of it – has a €3,288,530 total prize money. The reigning champion is Stan Wawrinka, who defeated his compatriot Roger Federer in last year’s final.
That was the second best ever Swiss tennis players’ first Masters Series tournament victory. If we take a look at the winners we have to conclude that – naturally – the all-time leader is Rafael Nadal, who won the even eight times in a row between 2005 and 2012. He only ever been defeated here in the 2013 final when the Serbian Novak Djokovic got the best of him in straight sets.
When it comes to other prominent winners, we have to mention the very first champion of the tournament, the British Reggie Doherty who won the event six-times between 1897 and 1904. In the open era, Ilie Nastase managed to win it three times in a row between 1971 and 1973. Björn Borg won it three times as well, between 1977 and 1979. The top favorites for this year’s tournament will be Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal.

The Monte Carlo Rolex Masters 2014 is tennis event organized for professional tennis players. It will be started from 14th April and will be continued till 20th of the same month. It will be played on outdoor clay courts at Monte Carlo Country Club in France.

On the ATP World Tour this week, the Monte Carlo Rolex Masters will be held. It happens on clay courts in Monte-Carlo, Moncaco, with a singles draw of 56 and a doubles draw of 24. This race is scheduled to begin on the 15th of April and it runs to the 22nd. This is one of the few Masters 1000 events on the calendar, and will be followed by a regular ATP World Tour 250 event in Bucharest, Romania. In 2006 the Monte-Carlo Masters had their 100th anniversary and marks the first of three tournaments with the Masters 1000 rating that are played on clay courts.
