On the ATP World Tour, finishing off the month of October, is a hard court tournament in Valencia, Spain, called the Valencia Open 500, which is worth nearly one million four hundred thousand Euros and has a singles draw of 32 and a doubles draw of 16. It happens starting October 30th and will be joined by another tournament that starts one day later, on October 31st in Basel, Switzerland. This is the Swiss Indoors Basel, a hard court tournament played indoors and featuring the same singles and doubles draw. Both of these tournaments are ATP 500 Level events.

The ATP 500 Level tournament in Valencia, Spain is called the Valencia Open 500 and it starts on October 31st and will end on November 7th, with a total prize purse of € 1,357,000 and a singles draw of 32 with a doubles draw of 16. This is a hard court tournament that went through a transformation in 2009, coming from a clay court tournament held in the spring to competing indoors on hard courts and bumped up the to 500 level. This tournament sits in a pivotal spot as the men of the ATP attempt to qualify for the Barclays finals.

So, we have the beautiful backdrop of the city of Valencia, as well as a brand new tournament that changed from a clay court to indoor hard courts and this will be the site of several hard fought battles in the days to come with everyone's mind on one thing – the Barclay's ATP World Tour Finals.
