The Boodles Challenge Live
It is the 10th Anniversary Boodles Challenge, and this year it will happen June 14th through the 18th, the venue Stoke Poges in Buchinghamshire in Great Britain, played on grass courts, and significant as we head into the next Grand Slam of the year, the third after the Australian Open and Roland Garros. Of course, we are talking about Wimbledon. This tournament begin in 2002 as the Dunthorpe Champion's Challenge and is one of the hottest social gatherings in Great Britain, allowing guests and tennis champions to mingle and eat at the same tables. The second year that the tournament was held Mark Philippoussis took home the trophy and then went on to make it all the way to the final in Wimbledon two weeks afterward. Last year's champion was Gael Monfils with Philipp Kohlschreiber taking it in 2009 and then Nicolas Kiefer and Fernando Verdasco with the two previous winners before that.
The top players that are appearing in the tournament this year include sixth ranked David Ferrer who will be appearing in this tournament for the first time. Also, last year's champion will be back to defend his title. Gael Monfils is currently ranked 11th. Other players that will be competing are Viktor Troicki, David Nalbandian, Sam Querrey and Marcos Baghdatis. The Boodles Challenge, part of the ATP Tour, will take place June 15th through the 19th and this tournament is set to be held at the Elegant Stoke Park. The tournament began in 2000 and ever since then it has offered tennis fans a chance to mingle with the champions and experience several days of great tennis. In 2005 a fifth day was added because of popularity. The uniquely named event is so called after the title sponsor. The venue is Stoke Park Club in Buckinghamshire, England and it is the tennis social event of the season with 1500 guests each day attending the exhibition matches and getting up close and personal with those playing tennis professionally. This is a grass court event as well, one of several that lead up to Wimbledon which is played later in June. We also have combined WTA and ATP events like the UNICEF Open and the AEGON International.
