The gentleman that make up the Association of Tennis Professionals, or ATP, will be going on to the Thailand Open in Bangkok starting on September 28th and this is one of the tournaments that tend to show how far the up and comers of the ATP 250 Tour has come this year. It will be held in the beautiful city of Bangkok, and the PTT Thailand Open is one of two events in southeast Asia, with the other being Kuala Lumpur. The very first was held in 2003 and it was Taylor Dent who went forward with full speed and won the title. Roger Federer dominated for two years and other winners included James Blake, Dmitry Tursunov and Jo-Wilifried Tsonga.

World Number two Rafael Nadar had to bow out because of an injury to his stomach sustained at the U.S. Open. He had planned to play in this tournament for the first time. However, Gilles Simon will be attending and is one of two top ten players in this lineup, and is number nine in the world. If he wins that will make this his first ATP World Tour Title won in Asia. Marat Safin, a former world champion and number one ranked his playing for the last time on the ATP World Tour. This is last time in Bangkok and he hopes to leave a major impression, having reached the semis in both 2004 and 2006 and lost.
