The Tennis fans in Stockholm are in for a treat this week, as the Stockholm Open will be played as a part of the ATP 250 Series event this week.
Gael Monfils of France has been given the top seed here, who recently lost in the second round of Shanghai Rolex Masters. That was his tournament in China, with his prior event being in Tokyo, where he was the semifinalist. Having cracked into the top 10, he will be keen on retaining his grip there. Second seed is the Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrov, who too lost in the second round in Shanghai. He has had an average season so far, with a record of 36-23. However, he has been impressive in the recent weeks, given that he was the runner-up in China Open and semifinalist in Chengdu Open. The third seed is Ivo Karlovic, who reached the fourth round in US Open and quarterfinal in ATP Tokyo. But like his other adversaries, he too lost early in Shanghai. The last of the four seeds, and quite possibly the most dangerous player, is Alexander Zverev. The 19 year old German is 42-23 so far, with a title already to his name.
He also won the St. Petersburg Open recently, and reached the quarterfinal in China Open. This will be an exciting tournament to follow through the week.

Having played on indoor carpet, the Stockholm Open is an annual ATP Tournament in Stockholm, Sweden. This year's event will be the 47thedition in tournament history which makes the Open one of the oldest tournaments on the European tour.
It is also extremely lucrative, with its $1,080,500 total prize money which is a little bit more compared to what the ladies' will earn. The reigning champion is the Czech Tomas Berdych who had a relatively short week in Shanghai, making his Stockholm participation a relative no-brainer. He will be the only top 10 player in attendance but there will be several other former top 10 competitors with two of them - two French players - being actually close to that level right now. Richard Gasquet is the 11th player in the world while his compatriot Gilles Simon is 14th. These three (with the above mentioned world number 5 Berdych) will be the main favorites but there will be other ATP titlists in the main draw represented by world number 20 Bernard Tomic, world number 22 Grigor Dimitrov, world number 29 Jeremy Chardy and world number 33 Jack Sock, all of whom are already ATP titlists. Sock and Chardy has one title while Tomic is a three-time career titlist, surpassed by Dimitrov's four winning campaigns. The Czech Berdych has 11 career titles, one Slam final and a couple of other major semis from the last couple of years.
He is a consistent competitor who will be the main favorite to go all the way, but the French players (especially Simon and Gasquet) definitely could, and probably will make things interesting for him.
