The Shenzhen Open in China will feature some of the big names on the ATP Tour, as they all compete for the trophy and also for a bid to end the season on a positive note.
Tomas Berdych is the top seed here, following his run to the semifinal in the St. Petersburg Open. Having missed out on the US Open this year, it is important for him to win this tournament in order to keep his position in the top 10. David Goffin of Belgium has been given the second seed, who last was the semifinalist in Moselle Open. With zero title so far and a track record of 38-18, the Belgian has been working hard this year to break into the top 10. Frenchman Richard Gasquet has been seeded third, whose last major tournament was the US Open, where he lost in the first round. Lastly, the Australian Bernard Tomic will be playing in Shenzhen as the fourth seed.
The world no. 22 too has been in a poor form off lately like the others, which makes it all the more interesting to see who makes it to the top. Other players such as Alexander Zverev, Jiri Vesely, Fabio Fognini too will be playing in the event.

The Shenzhen Open (also known as Shenzhen Gemdale Open) is an outdoor hard court tournament held annually in Shenzhen, China.
While the tournament holds a competition for both male and female players, the WTA version has become a warm-up event for the Australian Open and as such, it is now held in January as opposed to the ATP Tournament that starts on September 28. His reasons are clear, he wants to shorten his otherwise busy schedule to be as fit as possible for the Davis Cup final during which the Brits will host Belgian. This year’s event will be only the second edition on the men’s side, which means that the Scot was the only winner so far. In his absence, another top 10 player will try to go all the way. That player is the Czech Tomas Berdych who is currently fifth in the world and will naturally be the top seed in the main draw.
Other notable entrants include world number 14 Marin Cilic, world number 27 Tommy Robredo, world number 31 Guillermo-Garcia Lopez, world number 39 Adrian Mannarino or world number 40 Jiry Vesely, who will all battle for the total prize money of $607,940.
