The Movistar Open will come to you from Santiago, Chile February 1st through the 7th, being played the same week as another Association of Tennis Professionals Tournament, The PBZ Zagreb Indoors. Both of these are ATP 250 tournaments, and the ATP Santiago is a clay court tournament with a singles draw of 32 and a doubles draw of 16. The Movistar Open was previously held in Vina Del Mar, and this is the first year that the tourney has come to you from Santiago. This is also the first time that these men will play tennis on clay this year, and while the Zagreb Open is the first stop in Europe, this tournament is the first of four stops in Latin America. Chile is proud of their tennis and proud of their tennis players as four time titlist Fernando Gonzalez is from here, as well as Nicolas Massu. This will be a terrific tournament to kick off the ATP 2010 Tour.
Top seed in this event is Fernando Gonzalez, who will be hoping for a fifth title to add to his impressive collection. In fact, if Gonzalez wins this will be his fifth title in a row. Second seed is Juan Monaco, from Argentina, who will be hoping to reach the final match for his second time, and third is Thomaz Belluci. Other seeds include Pablo Cuevas, Jose Acasuso and Horatio Zaballos.
