Another ATP 250 tournament kicks off the month of February for the Association of Tennis Professionals in San Jose, California in the United States. The tournament begins February 8th and goes through until February 14th with a singles draw of thirty two and a doubles draw of sixteen. $531,000 is up for grabs at this indoor hard courts event officially titled the SAP Open. This tournament is unique in that it is the second oldest of all the men's pro tournament in tennis here in the United States and dates back to 1889. During the past one hundred and twenty odd years many men have found themselves with the title in hand, including Pete Sampras, Jimmy Connors, John McEnroe, Arthur Ashe and Ivan Lendl as well as the more recent additions of Andy Roddick, Andy Murray, Lleyton Hewitt, and Andre Aggasi. This tournament has seen a lot over the years and history continues to be made each year.
This year the top seed will be Andy Roddick who won this event three times and was going for a fourth last year when he was sent packing by Radek Stepanek, bowing out in the semi-finals. Second seed is Fernando Verdasco and third is Lleyton Hewitt. Other seeds include Tommy Haas, Mardy Fish and Taylor Dent.
