The Aircel Chennai Open Live will be held starting January 4^th, 2010, and featuring some great tennis as the Association of Tennis Professionals kicks off the 2010 season from Chennai, India. This tournament will be played on Hard Courts and it will hold a prize purse of $398,250 for the participants, with a total financial commitment of $450,000. The singles draw for this event is thirty two players and the doubles draw will be sixteen. The tournament goes from Monday, January 4^th of the new year to Sunday, the 10^th of January and is an ATP 250 World Tour event. The event has taken a contract for two more years so we will be seeing the Aircel Chennai Open this year and the next for sure. This is the fifteenth year for the prestigious Indian tournament as we have seen some great tennis players come away from a win at this event and go on to greatness, including Pat Rafter and Carlos Moya who are both Grand Slam Champions. This tournament features some great names of tennis as well.

Marin Cilic is the defending champions for this event and will also be the second seed in the line up. He defeated Somdev Devvarman last year for the title. Devvarman was a wildcard entry and made it all the way to the final. Robin Soderling is the top seed, number eight in the world right now and just coming off his very best season last year.
