The Tunis Open has been held since 2005, and it is from April 26th to May 3rd. Thirty two singles will be drawn for this event and the singles winner will walk away with 18,500 Euros and 125 points while the runner up will earn 75 points and 10,600 Euros. Benjamin Balleret is the number one seed for this event and he receives a bye into the second round. Inigo Cervantes Huegun is the second seed, from Espana, also receiving a bye into the second round. Third is Juan Pablo Amada and this player hails from Argentina.

The fourth seed for the Tunis Open is Petru-Alexandru Kumantsov who will take a bye into the second round just like the rest of the top eight seeds for this event. All this week is the Tunis Open – the professional men's tournament held in Tunis, Tunisia. Fans are expecting an exciting match as the best in men's pro tennis face off to take home the Tunis Open title.

The event has been held annually in Tunis since 2005, is part of the ATP Championship Tour and always fills spectator's expectations as one of the most exciting men's matches of the year. Last year the singles champion was Thomaz Bellucci, beating Dusan Vernic 6-2, 6-4.

 

Brazil proudly took home the doubles trophy as well, with Thomaz Bellucci and partner Bruno Soares winning by an even smaller margin, barely beating partners Jean-Claude Scherrer and Nicolas Tourte 6-3, 6-4.

 

This year the action starts on Monday, April 27th and lasts an entire week, concluding May 3rd. With $125,000 in prize money up for grabs it's anyone's guess as to who will take home the 2009 title, but there are players from more than 20 countries participating including Spain, Serbia, Germany, Argentina, Brazil, France, Portugal, Finland, the US, but also Algeria, Kazakhstan, Luxemburg and Peru . 

 

Some fan favorites of the sixty some players participating are Gaston Gaudio from Argentina, who won the 2004 French Internationals and the Finn Jarkko Nieminem. Gaudio is ranked 49 in the world. Another possibility is Guillermo Canas, who was a three time finalist at Roland Garros and Giles Muller who was a finalist at the US Open.
