Challenger Traralgon Live
The land down under is set to host the 2016 Latrobe City Challenger this week in Traralgon, Australia. Let us take a look at some of the contenders, who are set to compete here.
The top seed has been given to the 22 year local favourite Jordan Thompson, who is coming in fresh after winning the Vietnam Open challenger a week ago. That was his third challenger trophy of the season, as the young Australian looks to build his form further. Placed in his opposite half is another young player from Japan, who is coming in the tournament after having a disappointing spell on the tour. The second seed Yoshihito Nishioka played in ATP Tokyo last month, where he lost in the first round. He certainly lacks the momentum, which may make things trickier for him. Marco Trungelliti is the third seeded player here, whose most recent performance was in the Monterrey Open earlier this month. It wasn't an impressive feat, as he lost in the second round itself. Lastly, Grega Zemlja of Slovenia is the fourth seeded player here, who last played in the Fairfield Challenger.
He did reach the quarterfinal there, before succumbing to Santiago Giraldo in straight sets. Neither of the players are in a consistent form, which makes this event anyone's to win.

With its $50,000 total prize money, the Traralgon Challenger (or as they call it now, the Latrobe City Traralgon ATP Challenger) is not necessarily a very attractive tournament during the week.
Its location, however, allows it to still lure in some fairly decent talent, mostly coming from the Australian continent. This year's event will be the third edition in tournament history, but the tourney will be held without defending champion David Klahn, who unfortunately hasn't competed since February and his ranking plummeted as a result (he is currently outside of the top 300). While the crowd won't see the defending champion, they will see Matthew Ebden, the main favorite of the event. A five-time Challenger titlist, the world number 128 Ebden is a fairly solid player at that level. To top it off, he is used to playing well in his home country, winning the vast majority of his 11 combined ITF and Challenger titles in Australia. If not him, his compatriot, world number 164 Jordan Thompson could certainly go all the way, for the first time in his career.
He has two runner-up efforts so far on the Challenger tour, with the second one coming a week ago in Ho Chi Minh.
