The ATP Challenger Tour will hold a tournament this week in Scheveningen, The Netherlands on clay courts for 42,500 Euros called the HealthCity Open 2012, held July 9th through the 15th. This tournamen tis one of four that are being played on the tour this week, all of them on clay, from the event at Bogota, Columbia that is worth $125,000 to the one in San Benedetto, Italy that will be played for 30,000 Euros. . There is also going to be an event that is played in Timisoara, Romania on clay courts as well, worth 30,000 Euros.
The winner of this tournament will get 6,150 Euros and 90 points, while the finalist gets 55 points and 3600 Euros. The semifinalists in Scheveningen get 2130 Euros and 33 points. The top seed for this event is Jerzy Janowicz, who is ranked 136th, followed by Teymuraz Gabashvili in second place with 147. The third seed is Augustin Gensse, ranked at 150th, and Inigo Cervantes is fourth. Martin Alund will be the fifth seed and Kenny De Schepper will be the sixth. Maximo Gonzalez is the number seven seed and Jan Mertl is the eighth.

The ATP Challenger Tour will hold several great matches this week. There is a big hard court match in Pozoblanco, Spain as well as two clay court tournaments in Oberstaufen, Germany and San Benedetto, Italy. Let's take a look at the main singles draw for the Seimens Open, as the Challenger Tournament starts to heat up. Pablo Cuevas from Uruguay is the top seed for this event, going up against Wildcard Stephan Fransen in the first round while the second seed is Peter Luczac, who will be facing Simone Vagnozzi from Italy as part of the 32 singles making up the main draw. Well, the men of the ATP World Tour have moved to Scheveningen, Holland this week for the tournament there, and as this European hosted event began there were 32, now down to eight that will play each other tomorrow. The tournament will be played on the red clay outdoor courts in Scheveningen, and will feature a prize purse of 64,000 Euros. They are playing the best of three sets, and the tournament dates are July 6th through the 12th. So, what happened on day one? Well, the 32 players involved got to find out who their opponent were, and attempt to move onto the next round. Sixteen players ended up there including Albert Montanes, Gero Kretschmer, Thiemo De Bakker, Daniel Koellerer, Steve Darcis, Jiri Vanek, Juan Chela Ignacio, Simon Greul, Kristof Vliegen, Stephan Fransen, Tomas Tenconi, Julien Benneteau, Daniel Gimeno-Traver, Pablo Cuevas, Rameez Junaid and Raemon Sluiter. Those players moved onto the quarterfinals today, which features eight from the tournaments prior, held on 8th and 9th.
So now we move to the quarters with just eight players left, which will be played tomorrow, matching up those who won the second round tournament. Albert Montanes and Daniel Koeller will play, as well as Steve Darcis and Juan Ignacio Chela. A third pairing will se Krisof Vliegen and Tomas Tenconi compete while the final pair of players competing for a spot in the semifinals are Pablo Cuevas and Raemon Sluiter.
