Considering that this year’s event will be the seventh edition in tournament history, we can instantly conclude that the Trophée des Alpilles has been largely dominated by French players. Not only we have four (the last four to top it off) French winners out of six, but even the 2010 final had a player from France on the losing side (Edouard Roger-Vasselin), not to mention the 2014 all-French final which Mahut won over Vincent Millot. Mahut won’t try to defend his title this year but there are plenty other French players in the main draw who could go all the way. Outside of them, top seed Lukas Lacko is certainly a candidate for the title as well, along with second seed Matthias Bachinger or third seed Norbert Gombos. If we take a look at the past winners, we can see two former top 15 players among the winners.

2009 victor Marcos Baghdatis has peaked at the 8th position back in August, 2006 while the Polish Jerzy Janowicz was as high as nr. 14 in August, 2013 after his Wimbledon semifinal. If there is a player of that caliber in the main draw, that player is probably 18-year-old Quentin Halys.
