The ATP Challenger Tour will head to Rome, Italy this week for a €30,000 clay tournament that will join two other tournaments on the ATP Challenger Tour. The first is in Prague, Czech Republic, another clay court event that is worth €85,000, and then another in the United States in Savannah, Georgia, also held on clay courts. This week's tournament is called the Roma Open 2011, and it will happen from May 2nd to the 7th. It is worth 30,000 Euros and held on Red Clay. The top seed for this tournament is Germany's Tobias Kamke, who is ranked 78th. He will be going up against Konstantin Kravchuk in the first round. Kravchuk hails from Russia. Then, we move onto the second seed, Julien Reister from Germany. Reister is ranked 94th and will face off against Simone Bolelli, who is from Italy in the first round of the Roma Open 2011.
The third seed for this tournament is Mischa Zverey from Germany, and his current ranking is 99th. The fourth seed was supposed to be Andreas Beck, but he is not competing this year. The fifth seed for the tournament is Benoit Paire and the sixth and seventh are Bjorn Phau and Thomas Schoorel. The eighth seed is Gilles Muller. This week's match in Rome, Italy will happen from April 11th to the 17th, and it will be held on Red Clay, officially called the RaiOpen ING Direct 2011, with a singles draw of 32. Leading this draw is the number one seed in Rome, Andreas Haider-Maurer, a player who is ranked 96th right now. The second seed for this tournament is Bjorn Phau from Germany and he is ranked 112th. Haider-Maurer will face off against Uladzimir Ignatik in the first round and Phau will play Serbia's Boris Pashanki in round one.
Then, we have the third seed, Marcel Ilhan from Turkey and fourth is Andreas Beck from Germany. Then, we have the fifth seed who is also from Germany, 125th ranked Julian Reister. The sixth seed for this tournament is Ivo Minar from Czech Republic and seventh is Simon Greul from Germany. The eighth seed was to be Martin Fischer but he has pulled out. The tournament is one of three clay court tournaments this week, with three hard surface tournaments as well. Besides Rome, the ATP Challenger Tour will hit Baton Rouge, Lousiana, United States, Johannesburg, South Africa, Pereira, Columbia, Blumenau, Brazil and Leon, Mexico. The top seed for this particular challenger tournament is Daniel Koellerer, a twenty six year old tennis player from Austria who turned pro in 2002 and is currently ranked number 93 in the world, but has been ranked as high as 55 in the past.
Second seed is going to be Ruben Ramirez-Hidalgo from Spain, and third is Christophe Rochus. Fourth seed is Jan Hernych from the Czech Republic, and the fifth is going to be Kristof Vliegan. Sixth seed for the Rai Open is Albert Ramos-Vinolas from Spain and your seventh and eighth seeds are Adrian Unger and American Jesse Witten.
