Challenger Rome Live
Three players from the top 100 will feature in the BFD Challenger this week, which will be played in Rome. Let us take a look at some of the contenders.
The top seed has been bagged by the Dutch veteran Robin Haase, who is in a good form considering that he has won two Challenger titles in the past few months already. His last title came in Sibiu, Romania, where he defeated Lorenzo Giustino in the final. The second seed in the tournament is the young Czech Adam Pavlasek, who too recently won a challenger event in Banja Luka. He also missed out on the Hague Open title earlier this year, owing to defeat in the final to Haase. Apart from the rivalry of the above two players, we will also see the Brit Aljaz Bedene in the tournament, who has been spending his last couple of weeks of his season playing on the Challenger Circuit. He last was the semifinalist in Banja Luka. Lastly, we have the Spaniard Daniel Gimeno Traver, who is coming in the tournament as the fourth seed. His form off lately has been really poor and is certainly on the hunt to gain some traction.
This will be an intriguing tournament to watch, with Pavlasek or Haase once again likely to reach the final rounds.

The BFD Energy Challenger is an outdoor clay court tournament held in Rome. It belongs to the ATP Challenger Tour, and is known for being one of the last and latest European clay court Challengers, held in late September.
As such, the BFD Energy Challenger offers a great opportunity for those who prefer to compete on the dirt and don’t want to travel to South America. This part of the European tennis season focuses on indoor hard court events, in addition to a couple of outdoor hard court tourneys, but certainly not clay court competitions like the BFD Energy Challenger is. This tournament is the last European Clay court Challenger for quite some time, and that fact certainly makes it very alluring in the eyes of a lot of players. It’s such an attraction in fact that many quality South American players flies in for Europe for one last chance to get their hands on some significant money. That amount this year is €42,500 which may not be a lot compared to other Challenger level tournaments this week, but for a clay court specialist it might still represent a bigger theoretical payday.
This much is obvious from the main draw, which includes ATP titlists clay courters like Federico Delbonis and Daniel Gimeno Traver, posing as the top and second seeds.
