This tournament is unique as it is hardcourt but greenset on wood. Also, it is officially called the Open de Rennes, happening from October 11^th through the 17^th, and worth 64,000 Euros to the players of the ATP Challenger Tour. Arnaud Clement is the top seed, having already defeated his first round opponent, countrymate Romain Jouan and moving onto the second round. The second seed in the tournament is alternate Lukas Lacko from Slovakia, and he goes up against Nicolas Mahut in round one.

The third seed for the Open de Rennes is Stephane Robert, who will face Marc Gicquel in the first round, with both opponents from France, and the fourth seed is Bjorn Phau who hails from Germany. The fifth and sixth seeds are Stephane Bohli and David Guez from France, and the seventh is Grigor Dimitrov from Bulgaria.
